What's New in the Garage Door World: Scam Awareness
An increasing number of customers nationwide, including right here in Gainesville have reported garage door scammers targetting consumers via online ads in the top "Sponsored Results" section, with multiple scammers posing as legitimate garage door companies and directing customers to their fraudulent companies instead of the legitimate company the consumer was trying to reach.
- All Lester's Garage Doors employees are highly skilled, have passed thorough background checks and have been completely vetted. Our technicians wear uniforms with our company name, and our vans have our Lester's Garage Doors name and logo.
- The scammers may respond quickly, but the consumer pays thousands of dollars for what should be a simple repair. Please be a cautious consumer and verify the company you hire is legitmate.
- When using a Search Engine, please scroll down to the Maps section or below for legitimate companies.
- We have at least 18 documented cases in 2026, of this same thing happening to us in Gainesville, where the customer tried to reach us, but mistakenly reached some fraudulent company, and unfortunately were victims of the scam. See news stories below.
Additional Action Related to Reporting Scams
Lester's Garage Doors is aware that scams are happening in the garage door indutry in Gainesville and nationwide. We are working to provide resources to consumers on how to avoid scams. Our best defense is to educate consumers on how NOT to get scammed. If you or someone you know has been scammed, we recommend the following:
- If the scam occurred due to a false or misleading ad, we recommend you report the ad to Google (for instructions on how to report fraudulent ads to Google, click here).
- If business fraud has occurred, such as someone impersonating another business, we recommend you report this incident to the Better Business Bureau (click for link).
- If you have been the victim of criminal activity (such as fraud), we recommend you contact your local police department or local division of the FBI.

Family Promise - Summer Camp Packs 2021
On Friday, June 11, 2021 the staff of Lester's Garage Doors gathered to pack backpacks with towels, sunscreen, waterbottles, books and more in backpacks for Summer Camp! Children whose families are in the Family Promise program will receive a backpack of goodies to kickstart and fun, summer day camp experience! We had a great time packing these and hope the kids will enjoy them even more!!
Family Promise Dinner - 2020
In December 2020, the staff of Lester's prepared dinners for families housed by Family Promise. Family Promise houses and helps families in need while they search for new jobs, housing, etc.
Give Hope
Lester's Garage Doors regularly participates with Queen of Peace Catholic Church in "Give Hope," a food collection which began to help those in need during the COVID-19 Pandemic. The Give Hope ministry continues to serve various local ministries in the Gainesville community.
