Please Note: Only Regal, Vantage & Village Collections are Florida approved for Florida Wind Load requirements.
Did you know windloaded garage doors are a key component to preparing your home during hurricanes?
All doors sold by Lester’s are tested to determine how much pressure they can handle from wind during a storm.
Overhead doors installed in the greater Gainesville area prior to 2002 were not required to be windloaded, but they probably hold up to about 60-70 mph winds. If your garage door is not strong enough to hold up to strong winds, it can blow in. Once that happens, the whole roof can blow off!
It is currently required by the State of Florida that all overhead doors sold in Gainesville must have been tested to stand up to hurricane force winds, that a permit must be pulled in order to install a garage door, and a final inspection be performed by a local building official.
